The musical theatre classes, unfortunately, have too many girls in them, so I've swapped over to straight drama. Every Friday night. =D
Last time was a lovely geek-fest, wherein Colin made us to three 'freeze-frame' things... as freeze-framed on a tape-player, so jerky back-and-forth movements were allowed. He introduced me to Sam, who is lovely.
We were told to base our freeze-frames on a historical event, a famous film, and something about someone in the group.
Historical event: The Battle of Marathon. Slow motion running!
Famous film: Shrek. (My knees still hurt from that one, but it was fun)
Something about someone in the group: Sam getting whammed in the face during the Disney Showcase. (Colin told us that his face broke the wooden sword, how silly. XD)
I'm really looking forward to next time. ^^ Also, if anyone knows any decent one-act plays, could you please tell me?
On a final note, the greatest warm-up of all time is finger fencing. Just sayin'.

It's supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Ah, Mary Poppins, how I love thee. It's in Manchester at the moment, I went to see it, and I loved it. The kids are amazing, Mary's practically perfect (despite an adorable little gaffe with the tape measure) and Bert is... well, Bert. =D
Anyway. Moving on... I've gotten my place in the Mossley group sorted, and I start on 7th February. Should be fun. ^^

Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside~...
Just a quick post to assure you all that I'm still alive, despite all the odds. :p
I'm still working on the Mossley situation. I might just go in for straight drama, and then deviate to musical theatre later on...

Random backstage snippet for you all
ME: You dropped your house on my head!...The best thing about Wickidz was the absolute insanity that was backstage, I swear. Especially that bit.
DOROTHY: It's not my fault my house doesn't have GPS!

It's over, finally!
Wickidz is over!
I'm just back from the performance... I'm actually still in my Nessarose costume, for what it's worth, because it's rather comfy.
So, tonight, I learned why the old adage is never work with children or animals. People kept forgetting their lines, sometimes in a quite major way, and the only thing that went off without a hitch was Popular... I think.
We ended up with just one song, after all that. Apparently, Defying Gravity is too hard... despite me offering the Broadway track, they refused it, and cut the song altogether.
Wicked Witch of the East didn't make it in due to a mess-up with certain people's lines - namely, Elphaba's. That girl couldn't remember her lines at all, even though she knew she was a main character, and... lots of interesting line flubs happened as a result.
"I can do whatever I want, I'm the Wizard of Oz! ...Or even the Wicked Witch of the West..."
And Fiyero repeatedly stating that Elphaba was a commotion, poor love. At least she tried, which is more than can be said for certain others...
The Dancing Through Life situation was never resolved, and so, I had to cover the unnatural gap with an improv line: "Oh, I'm sure he has a party to plan or something like that"... or something like that. XD I can't remember it at the moment.
The Grimmerie was consistently forgotten past the first scene it appeared in, and, when it finally reappeared, it was the wrong book. Whoopsie. That scene also appears to hold the record for line flubs.
I did love playing Nessarose, though. It's the little things that you do in the wheelchair that make it fun - I played with the things I had, like the copy of Pride and Prejudice - reading it in the classroom scene, hitting myself in the face in it when Elphaba made a whoopsie whilst talking to Fiyero. We also had the hand mirror, which... I used to check myself out (รก la the real show) and to hit myself in the head (on "there's no place like home"), amongst other things.
There were flub ups with stage directions, Josie and I got steadily more and more annoyed as people couldn't remember the lines they'd previously assured us they knew inside out... and yet, people seemed to like it. I got cheers, guys. =D
My dad recorded all of it, except for the final bows - the battery ran out, which he blames on our Elphaba's inability to remember her lines... and I agree... >.>
So, yeah. I might be posting up my bits on Youtube. Look out for that. =D

Never work with non-sentient beings...
...that includes animals and children under the age of twelve. Jesus on a stick.
We have two weeks, two rehearsals and nothing is working right. Two songs are gone (with almost no hope of recovering them), I fear the worst for the Nessa/Boq scene in Act II (rehearsed up to "all of my life I've depended on you", several weeks ago, and that's it), and... our Elphaba is refusing to sing.
There are also way too many small children. I can't get on-stage and off-stage easily, because they're blocking everything... I suggested to our Glinda that we cut down the numbers, and she really didn't like the idea.
...She's also refusing to say "Dodo", Glinda's classic flub-up with Toto's name, because she claims it's cheesy. THIS IS OZ, GET USED TO THE CHEESE.
We have no effing costumes, because they're all bloody idiots. Look, Brownies, you need to wear blue and white, just like the REST OF THE CAST THAT PART OF ACT I.
Seriously. The only costume we have? Mine. Nessa's Act I costume is complete, her Act II costume just needs the tights and a few extra bits.
Argh. I'm just... so very, very narked off at this. This is my script, I worked hard on it, I kept only the essential songs and it's butchered like mad. Aaaargh.
I'd better stop now. I need to go channel this feeling of 'rwaaaaaar' into something worthwhile, I guess. >.> Till next time, my lovely readers.

Bah, humbug?
I can't get them to keep 'Dancing Through Life', which irritates me, because... the lack of it creates this nice big plot hole, due to how the script is structured.
Look, I'll show you.
However, my suggestions are often ignored... that's what led to this whole mess-up with 'What Is This Feeling?' and 'Dancing Through Life' - I'd rather sacrifice some of the extraneous dialogue, like part of Elphaba and Galinda's bedroom talk prior to 'Popular', than songs... because the songs are awesome, and I want to sing my "We deserve each other" bit, so that 'Wicked Witch of the East' makes sense.
...You know what? This entire thing just seems like a plot against Nessarose and Boq. With 'Dancing Through Life' gone, Boq doesn't appear until Act II and nobody knows how much Nessa loves him... and how Boq was, essentially, roped into it against his will.
*curses the plotholes and the hack-job being made of her script*
Look, I'll show you.
(Before FIYERO can respond, GALINDA zooms on-stage, a vision in... well, Galinda-ness. She clings to his arm.)So, you see - removing the song means Fiyero's last line of dialogue makes no sense. I've suggested that a new line of dialogue be written to cover the sudden cut-off.
GALINDA
You must be Fiyero! You're that Arjiki prince that Madame Morrible was talking about!
FIYERO
...Well, I guess?
GALINDA
Something about going between schools?
FIYERO
Ah, well... you see...
[SONG - DANCING THROUGH LIFE] - Wickidz. Act I, Scene vi.
